C'mon Everybody is driven by Eddie Cochran's punchy guitar and the bright snap of his Gretsch 6120. Rather than a showy solo, he builds the record on a tough, catchy riff and firm, chopping rhythm, with the guitar working as engine and hook at the same time. The parts are simple, but the attack is so confident that the song feels fast and exciting. Cochran was also a keen studio experimenter, and the clarity and weight of the guitar sound here shows a player thinking about how a record should hit. His approach fed directly into British rock guitar of the next decade. Listen for the stops and restarts, where the guitar punches back in and lifts the whole band.
