Eddie Hazel returns on the title track of this 1974 Funkadelic album, and his playing drives the song as much as the rhythm section does. The groove is fast and relentless, very much the P-Funk sound, but the guitar is heavy and fuzzed, cutting through with thick riffs and searing lead lines. Hazel moves easily between locking into the beat and soaring over it, which is what made him such an important part of the band's rock-leaning sound. The track is a good bridge between Funkadelic's psychedelic early records and their later dance-floor funk. Listen for how the lead guitar keeps returning to rhythmic stabs, never drifting far from the groove.
