Blackberry Blossom features Clarence White in the short-lived supergroup Muleskinner, alongside David Grisman, Peter Rowan, Bill Keith and Richard Greene. White plays the fiddle tune with his characteristic syncopation, off-beat accents and crisp, bright tone. His lead lines trade with the mandolin, banjo and fiddle, each musician adding their own flavor. The recording captures a group of innovators at the height of their powers. White's playing is precise but loose, with a relaxed swing.
