Blues de la Frontera is the title track of Pata Negra's album, where the Amador brothers joined bulería rhythms to electric blues guitar. The result is a style they called blueslería, and it sounds both familiar and startling. The guitars play blues phrases with flamenco rhythmic feel, bending notes over the bulería's twelve-beat cycle. The fusion was influential for later Spanish rock and flamenco musicians, and it still sounds bold and a little rough around the edges, in the best way. Listen for the electric guitar's blues bends landing on flamenco accents, a combination that shows how naturally the two traditions can meet.
