Fred, from Believe It, was one of the first places many listeners heard Allan Holdsworth's guitar. His solos are already smooth and legato, with unusual harmonic choices that give his lines a floating, unpredictable character. The band plays energetic jazz-rock, but Holdsworth's phrasing sounds almost otherworldly on top, moving through the changes with a fluid ease.
