Recorded live with Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb, along with Johnny Griffin on tenor, Full House catches Wes Montgomery in a loose, swinging mood. The title track is his own tune in 6/8, and the rhythm section's easy groove gives him room to stretch. His solo moves from relaxed single lines into octaves and chords, following his usual build, but with a spontaneity that the studio sometimes lacked. The live setting and strong band made it one of his most admired recordings. Listen for the interplay with Kelly's piano, and for the way Wes's octave passages lock into the six-beat pulse, making the rhythm feel both lilting and propulsive.
